Covid nurse turns up for shift hours after testing positive for virus

The medic only mentioned to a colleague they have been confirmed with having coronavirus an hour into their shift in the state hospital at Carstairs.

A nurse turned up for work just hours after testing positive for Covid-19.

Staff and patients are said to be outraged after the medic mentioned to a workmate they had been confirmed as having the virus an hour into the shift in the state hospital at Carstairs.

Hospital chiefs have been forced to take urgent action to manage a potential outbreak, with the affected ward locked down and patients monitored for symptoms, the Daily Record reports.

Until now the facility has managed to keep the virus largely at bay, and staff are said to be bewildered as to why someone would come to work after a positive test.
